Most recently, the gallery’s Parisian branch has installed itself in the “Maison du Bonheur”, the former home of the perfume house Roger et Gallet. Art Media Agency found out more about this new space, which houses the works of artists as diverse as Calder, Miró, Giacometti, Soulages, and Yue Minjun, and had the chance to speak with its founder. p.22 Interview: From tradition to innovation: Tiffany Beres With her exhibition “Revolution in Tradition: China’s New Ink Art” taking place until 31 May at Paris’ Nathalie Obadia gallery, independent curator and Chinese ink painting scholar Tiffany Beres is bringing the pioneers updating this ancient artistic tradition to Western audiences, and providing a unique insight into both the rich history and cutting edge practices of Chinese ink painting. The Beijing-based curator spoke to Art Media Agency about the exhibition, bringing together old and new, and the role of contemporary Chinese art in the international scene p.25 Data: Nobuyoshi Araki Nobuyoshi Araki is a Japanese photographer and contemporary artist, who was born in Tokyo in 1940. After having studied photography, Araki worked at the advertising agency Dentsu. Given his large output of published books, Araki is considered to be one of the most prolific artists of all time, and is known for his erotic photography, which is considered by some as pornographic. p.31 Interview: Breaking Boundaries: Emma Dexter, British Council Emma Dexter has been at the helm of the British Council’s visual arts department since September 2014, promoting British art and culture overseas and coordinating a diverse roster of exhibitions and projects around the world, including Britain’s pavilion at the current Venice Biennale. Art Media Agency had the opportunity to speak to Dexter about the British Council’s impressive collection, their current projects, and the unique position of British arts and artists in the global art scene p.36 Interview: The Triumph of Art: Pierre Courtin, Duplex 100m² Pierre Courtin, founder and director of the gallery and art centre Duplex 100m², located in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia-Herzegovina, granted us some of his time. During a fascinating and enriching interview, he spoke to Art Media Agency about his gallery’s evolution and success and about their location, which is a very unusual one for the art world.
